Individual Substance Abuse Services at Appalachian Children's Home QRTP

At Appalachian Children’s Home Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP), we provide individualized, evidence-based substance abuse services to support youth in overcoming addiction and building a foundation for lifelong recovery. These services are delivered by a Board-Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) and are tailored to meet each resident's unique needs.

Residents engage in one-on-one substance abuse counseling each week, where they participate in hands-on learning experiences that address:
The physical and psychological effects of drug and alcohol use
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) strategies to recognize and change negative thought patterns
Motivational Interviewing techniques to enhance self-awareness and commitment to change
Assertive communication and refusal skills to prevent relapse and build confidence in decision-making

Recognizing the profound impact of trauma on addiction, our program integrates a trauma-informed care model, ensuring that youth receive compassionate, individualized support in a safe and structured environment.

Each resident receives a customized treatment plan reflecting their needs, strengths, and goals. Plans are regularly assessed and adjusted to promote continuous progress in areas such as:
Coping strategies for managing stress and triggers
Healthy emotional regulation techniques
Developing personal accountability and goal setting

To reinforce treatment progress and promote responsible decision-making, we incorporate:
Random drug screenings to ensure accountability
Skills training for real-world application, preparing residents for successful community reintegration
Peer and mentor support to foster encouragement and positive social connections

By providing a structured, holistic approach to substance abuse treatment, we empower youth to break the cycle of addiction and equip them with the tools they need to make healthier choices, both now and in the future.
