Social Workers

Our Treatment Program is approximately eight months long. However, this can be extended for negative behavior; as well as, accelerated for kids who will age-out prior to the eight month period. Each child’s needs are assessed individually and their program is carefully tailored to ensure they receive maximum benefit.

Should you choose to send your child to our Program; know that they will be cared for and nurtured as a part of our ACH family. We strive to care for each child like we would our own; and, teach them life skills as we would our own. Our sole purpose is to make a life-long, positive impact on every child we serve – whether helping them in therapy, teaching them social skills, serving as role models they can esteem, or encouraging them to realize they can experience a life of great destiny when they make right choices. Children are “becoming” something; with every decision they make (good or bad) – they are “becoming” something. Our question to each child is: “What are you becoming?” We then diligently work to proactively change the patterns of a negative lifestyle. Because ACH is not a locked-down facility, we do encounter the occasional AWOL. All of our staff are equipped with the knowledge of our AWOL policies and procedures to safely and efficiently return a child to our facility.

Our Program is designed as a five phase system. Each time a child advances in phase; more privileges are granted. Kids are celebrated when they advance in phase, as often this requires a lot of hard work on their part. Our counselors and direct care staff utilize Behavior Modification, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-focused models, and various other therapies to hopefully create life-long positive change in each child’s life. We also diligently work and have implemented plans to prevent our children from being sent to psychiatric hospitals; however, in the event that a child is in crisis and exhibits harmful behavior to themselves or others, we generally use the Trillium Center at Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin, KY–our local psychiatric hospital. From day one when a child comes into our Program – our focus is discharging successfully.  “Successfully” is defined when a child leaves the Home and reenters their community as a productive member of society – regardless of their age!

As a facility, we feel that it is very helpful to introduce children to different experiences that they would normally never have. We accomplish this by taking trips to different restaurants (from fast food to 5 Star); and engaging in cultural and historical experiences, such as plays, musicals, art, and monuments. While participating in a wide assortment of activities; our kids are learning appropriate social skills and invaluable life exposure. It is an tremendous joy to see the world through the eyes of our children as they are experiencing new things.

Lastly, you should know that if you are placing with us – we will be delighted to help you with any issues you may face, such as transportation. Importantly, the consents for treatment you will need are available to download on this page.  If you have any further questions, please feel free to call us at 606.546.3805 or contact us directly online below.
